Welcome in the
Year of the Fire Rooster,
commencing this year on
the New Moon of January, the 27th!
So this past year of the Red Fire Monkey was a rather hellish humdinger, over all- but if you read my post last year welcoming that year in, you'll see that much of that surreal chaos was warned about, with tips for survival.
And hoo buddy, that was one bumpy ride.
But it's a brand new year! So let's get this rolling.
To follow this absolutely insane past year with the Year of the Fire Rooster is going to sometimes seem like salt in that scrape picked up from that playground fight. How we choose to respond to the wounds that may have been garnered in conflicts of this past year are a crucial window into how we will manage throughout this next year. Are we going to lick our wounds away from the eyes of the world, or are we going to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, pick out the rocks, face the bullies? There are many of us who will want to lick the wounds- and if so, do so- but do not dwell in this place too long. It is time for us to pull ourselves up by those bootstraps and get to it- no matter how big the hill is. Inaction in a Rooster year is like shooting oneself in the foot, looking at the other runners in a marathon, and courting big time regrets. Inaction in a Rooster year is missing out, big time.
Roosters dream large, and Rooster years bring massive change, and Rooster years reward the change-makers and game-changers. What I mean to say is...Rooster years are not years that reward apathy by any means.
Playground and chicken yard are both places where Roosters like to crow, scratch, bluster and squawk, determine hierarchy, demand attention. But on the flip side, roosters provide warnings, keep a sharp eye out, regulate, keep things in order. Roosters also like to show off. Taking all of these different aspects into account will make for very interesting social climates. There's going to be an awful lot happening, and it is going to be loud and proud. Rooster Years tend to highlight things happening on the surface- so it will be important to keep an eye on the behind the scenes of what unfolds this year, so as not to lose focus and to keep balance. Keeping balance is a definite priority in Rooster years.
Same as with the past Year of the Fire Monkey, the Year of the Fire Rooster will not be boring. In fact, it may be overwhelming. As a result, Rooster years can bring about a rise in community and connection- because no one really wants to be overwhelmed alone. And communication is favored in Rooster years. There is a lot of talk-talk-talk with the Rooster. Some of it will be that squawk-squawk-squawk, but there is a lot of benefit to be had in being an active part of this activity and conversation. The Year of the Rooster is kind of like a huge dinner party (not quite the chaotic house party of last year) where much is learned in astonishingly intimate ways- and there will be plenty of inclinations and invitations to plunge into social networking of all kinds. Social activity is huge in Rooster years. Roosters also love adventure, so be willing to go with the flow on things because there are unseen treasures in Rooster years waiting to be had. Revolutions get an energetic level up.
Genius comes out of the woodwork in a big way. Inspiration is in the air.
In terms of finances and business, the Year of the Rooster is similar in ways to the preceding Monkey year in that big energy and big ideas are both incredibly favored. Again, we have another year that loves pushing the boundaries. Last year it was in terms of impulses and impetus, but now we see the that focus is more finely honed in terms of creative output and productivity. The seeds recently planted can now grow strong roots and vibrant shoots, if we work assuredly and with industry toward these goals. One of the big keywords for Rooster years is Industrious. It can take hard work to make big dreams bloom, but with perseverance, they can beyond the wildest dream. Rooster years also favor the resourceful. This is a fantastic year for the resurgence of inventive ways of sustainability. And the Rooster loves creative originality and productive practicality- this can be a great year in terms of innovation in the arts and sciences.
One last note here: watch your impulse purchases, guard your resources.
Politically, we will see a continuation of the breakdown that came with this past Monkey year- we are in a process it seems of continual recovery as we continue to navigate an unpredictable political climate, that grows a bit less unpredictable, to much of our horror. The Rooster year brings with it the potential for heightened political violence and bloodshed. Abuse of power may be rewarded in the higher levels of government, instead of pilloried. As the Rooster tends towards hierarchal order, we will witness struggles in this process within the current systems of government for the next year. There will be intense power conflicts and power plays, and they will be loud. Again, the surface focus will be on surface events, the attention will be on the squawkers- but much will be happening at the ground level. So so much. This is a year where those on the ground level, through that industrious perseverance, can continue working on dismantling failing systems, while also preparing the fields for a whole new world. The ethics of unions create much strength from within for this hard work. We can create this whole new world, but it must be together.
And it must be a focused, resilient together.
If you are coming into this New Year filled with trepidation in these trying times, this is beyond understandable. But keep that brazen fire glowing inside your heart and spirit.
You are so not alone.
I have those resounding famous powerful words spoken by Franklin Delano Roosevelt during his inauguration speech- which happened right in the beginning of the Year of the Rooster 1933, mind you- in my head:
"...let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."
Indeed. INDEED.
Rooster years brighten our brave.
And never forget- Roosters herald the New Dawn.
All the love,
